Reporting to the Director of the Academy, the Instructor plays a crucial role in the organization by training the next generation of drivers. The Instructor is an effective communicator who can eloquently deliver lesson plans and presentations to groups of individuals and can tailor learning materials to suit the learning style of individual participants.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruct and coach students on the fundamentals of becoming a Professional Transport Driver.
Utilize industry leading training methods to effectively facilitate in-class lessons to students and deliver effective presentations.
Develop route plans and in-vehicle lesson plans and utilize in-vehicle training techniques to apply in-class learning to on-the-road training.
Effectively utilize advanced communication skills in a student-centered training environment.
Evaluate student progress and provide coaching and support.
Demonstrate and advocate safety procedures and a safe workplace environment.
Qualifications & Competencies:
2-5 years’ relevant experience.
Manitoba Class 1 with Air Brake & Slack.
Must hold or be eligible to hold a Class 1 & Class 3 Driving Instructor’s Permit.
Must meet registration requirements as per PVI regulations.
Strong understanding of the Highway Traffic Act, Private Vocational Institutions Act & Regulations, Professional Driver’s Manual, and Air Brake Manual.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
Strong commitment to continuous learning and ability to embrace new training methodologies.
Good working knowledge of computer software programs including MS Office suite.
Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, bend, twist, climb in and out of a truck, and sit and stand for periods of up to 1 hour.
